After February 2011 announcement
of Symbian death by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop,Windows is Nokia’s
only hope. They are working hard to differentiate their windows phone products
from other manufacturers windows phone products. All the Lumia branding, Meego
killing etc are done on this purpose. Infact recently announced lumia 920 is a
hopeful product for Nokia .Initial batch
of Lumia devices including the lumia 800,lumia 710,lumia 610 and the lumia 900 didn’t
lived up to the expectations. This may be due to the time needed for a new
ecosystem like windows phone 7 to establish itself.
With Windows phone 7 microsoft re established its presence as a
mobile OS and now readying a new
version, Windows phone 8. Windows phone 8
shares a same core with upcoming desktop OS from windows, Windows 8.this means
that a seamless integration is possible with devices sporting these OS s. Application
development will be much simpler But as Microsoft
says Windows Phone 8 is a generational shift in
technology, which means that it will not run on existing hardware and hence
current lumia devices will not get an update. Can nokia survive this?

trying to … Windows phone 7.8 is their hope .Windows phone 7.8 is an update for
windows phone 7.5 users which provides them some functionalities of windows phone
8,just “some” not all
Windows Phone 7.8 will include interface changes of Windows Phone 8, such as Live Tile size
and colour adjustments. More over ,according to Microsoft, features from Windows
phone 8 will be added to windows phone 7. 8 on public demand .
Nokia
now states that it will support the os for a long term with their own additions
of softwares and added on features. Last week Nokia launched City view their
augmented reality application for windows phone 7 and they still promises to
deliver some quality apps on along term basis. Software features such as bluetooth
file transfer capabilities updating of
current contact share app with sharing over bluetooth as well in addition to
SMS and email. In addition Nokia plans to continue providing additional
value and features to current Lumia devices.time will have to prove the future
of current generation lumias and Windows phone 7.8
